1. I describe my artistic style as meticulous and precise, with trying to make my pieces as realistic as possible. I define success in art as completing my project, and it being made well. I don't think of my projects as done if I do not like them, I have to like for them to be finished. What I find rewarding about being an artist is the final outcome, the piece that I have been working hard on, and then seeing what I've been working hard on as a whole. The important skills I draw upon are using my final sketch to help me make a start for my final project. This final sketch really helps me and I feel brings my work together. What I have learned through art making is that it takes a long time to finish, and finish correctly an art project. I've also learned that when shading with colored pencil that you need to start out light, and slowly work your way up.
2. These two photos show my growth during art class. I started out with pen and ink not really understanding what I was doing, and trying to practice shading (on the first image). The first image was just an exercise to use used to shading and understanding how pen and ink work. The second image, the fruit basket, was my final pen and ink project. This image I had to learn to shade using pen and ink, and making the fruits looking three dimensional. This accurately shows my growth during class, because it shows how I started, and how I finished. As in the first picture it was me learning to use these techniques and trying to lay them out, not really knowing, but as in the second picture I would bring my skills and techniques that I learned in this class to bring my project together.
3. My digital portfolio does a good job summarizing my semester in Art 2. My portfolio shows the growth from the beginning to the end of the semester, by all the projects I posted. I chose these two photos because one was created towards the beginning of the year, and the other towards the end. The first image I made in the start, this one was just a plain sketch using pencil, this was really the only technique I knew. This second image I made at the end of the year, this was made by print-making, when Ms. Rossi said "Print making" I was so confused and didn't understand what it was. It shows my growth and expansion throughout the semester. The only thing my portfolio did not reveal was the littler drawing that we would do throughout class, and my thought processes and struggles. I tried to explain most of that when answering the questions , but I couldn't get everything out of my head onto the paper. But overall my portfolio shows a good representation of my semester in Art 2, and all the pieces I've made.
4. I chose these two mini lessons, because these were the most beneficial to my learning. The first photo was the 100 textures mini lesson, and this assignment was to use pen and ink and create 100 different patterns. This lesson helped me get used to, and learn new patterns with pen and ink, I used these patterns in my final project. The second mini lesson was the practice colored pencil drawing. This was a practice using these special color pencils to help me learn how to use, and how to blend using these pencils. This assignment helped me a lot because I didn't even know how to use these colored pencils before this mini lesson. This was a lot of help during my final project, because I needed to shade my project, and this helped me to understand how to layer and shade.
